Secoya on Fifth, located in the Banker’s Hill neighborhood, is the first project to pull permit under the city of San Diego’s new Complete Communities ordinance. The ordinance lays out new planning strategies that incentivize the creation of affordable housing, convenient to transportation nodes. At Secoya, this increased density is targeted to serve the city’s “missing middle” market.  Mayor Todd Gloria has called Secoya on Fifth “an example of what we need more of in San Diego.”

Secoya is an all-concrete structure with 7 stories of apartments above ground floor retail and amenity spaces. Despite its density of over 400 units per acre, Secoya contains a variety of common areas for residents to enjoy including a landscaped courtyard, spa, and rooftop terrace. The units provide residents with private balconies and generous windows to take advantage of the stunning views that Secoya commands of Balboa Park to the east and the North San Diego Bay to the west. Secoya on Fifth sets a new standard for generating much-needed urban density without compromising design.
